Hello!! I do feel as though I need to apologise (again), life has taken over and any blog/vlog ideas have had to sit on the back burner! I am child free for an hour however so my aim is to get this written up and published for you all 🙂
Now I did actually manage to get the vlog review filmed, edited and posted up on youtube! If you’ve not checked it out yet head over here to give it a view and a thumbs up!
So what is it I’m reviewing today? If you follow me on Facebook or instagram you will have seen me post about it – Women’s Best – Fit Whey!
As I touched on briefly with the BCAA review I’d seen Women’s best about but never really tried it – so I figured I’d give in and give it a go to see if it was worth the hype!
So the Fit Whey is a whey protein with included BCAAs – I chose this one to try as I wanted something that was high in protein but lower in sugar and carbs so I could work it into my macros during a bulk or a cut. I wanted to find a universal protein powder if that makes sense?
So whats the low down, how much bang do you get for your buck?
The Fit Whey boasts a pretty impressive nutritional breakdown, and you get a fabulous 24g of protein per serving – not bad really! So let’s have a little peak;
Per serving you can see above you there’s only 1.2g fat and 0.8g sugar!! I won’t lie, the low sugar count is what got me. I always say how I’m wanting how much sugar I consume so I like to find a protein that’s going to taste decent but not push the sugar count up out the roof!!
You get 5.8g of BCAAs per serving, and just for documenting sake – the list is above. If you can say them all please let me know, trying to say some of those is like a foreign language to me!
Again, Women’s Best nailed it on the head and this protein is Gluten Free *cue the celebratory dance* so no stomach cramps over here!
Cool beans, the macro breakdown is pretty peng. That sugar is pretty low though, it can’t taste that good!
Now this is where I was completely blown away! I opened the tub to do the usual ‘my god, does it smell of a factory’ and was pleasantly surprised when all I got was the sweet sweet smell of vanilla. It smelt lush, so lush I made a shake pretty sharpish as I couldn’t wait to try it!
Now I’ve mixed mine into a fruit protein smoothie to get some added vitamins and minerals, but can I just say how amazing it was. No grainy feeling, no weird after taste and it didn’t make my smoothie taste ‘fake’. I used the exact same fruit with an alternative brand and it tasted like a chemical warfare so that ended up down the sink! I was so happy to actually find a protein powder that COMPLIMENTS fresh and frozen fruit to make it into a happy protein drink.
So above is my little smoothie recipe – ignore the goal side of the macro chart, I forgot to white it out *facepalm*. So this is my go-to afternoon snack. I didn’t include the weights of the fruit in my little ingredient list but it’s generally around 10g of each (depending how much of what I have left)!
As I’m trying to build muscle and need some surplus calories I’m currently throwing some oats in there too – you could also add some milled flaxseed for added fibre and good fats. My shake that day came to 263cals but I got a banging 34g protein, 34g carbohydrates and 10g fat! I could use an alternative milk to bring the fat content down – but bulk life means I can have the whole stuff!
I have also used the Fit Whey to make morning Protein Waffles – which can I say are amazing!
Easy peasy recipe, whack all of the above in a blender – whizz it up. Use a 1cal spray to loosen up the waffle pan – pour in and wait for the ping! They taste like vanilla banana waffles! You wouldn’t have a clue there was any whey protein in them!! I totally forgot to add the calorie count on these bad boys – but it was around the 440cal mark!Again, I chucked the oats in to bulk them out a little and add some extra calories so you can take those out to lower the carbs/cals. The above doesn’t include the oil I used, as I assume not everyone will be using the same oil as me the macro breakdown is only for the ingredients listed.
Lets round it up
So all in, I’m pretty impressed. It tastes lush, the macros are pretty banging and they do some pretty ace deals! Currently on the website I believe they have some money off if you use code – GOLD. So now is an awesome time if you wanted to give it a go, the tub I got was £17.99 and that gives you 16 servings. Cost wise you’re looking at roughly £1.12 per serving – remind me how much you spend on a coffee and a muffin at starbucks? I can tell you, at least £5! So when you take into account that this is to aid your health and fitness goals I’d say it’s worth the cost.
As I always say, these are supplements. They are to supplement a healthy balanced diet and fitness routine, you can’t take these products – sit on the sofa and expect a miracle. You do have to put the effort in, but if you are following a resistance training programme (If you’ve followed my blog long enough then you should be) then you will know protein is needed to help your muscles repair and build. This is a great option to help bulk up that protein content in your diet to help you hit your goals!
Well guys, that’s my lot for today! I’ve got a few Vlog ideas coming up – just need the time to film and edit them, and I also want to do a full update on my training! I’ve just written out a new meal plan (no, the coffee I just consumed was not on plan but I’ll work it into my day) – writing my new training plan tonight so hopefully this weekend I’ll give you guys a little update!
Take it easy you lovely lot, and show this post some love if you found it helpful!
